The best photo opportunities in Walt Disney World

We spoke to several devoted Disney bloggers to find out their hints and tips for scoping out the best photo opportunities during your visit...

Walt Disney World really is a fairy-tale adventure, and once you’ve shown your Disney tickets and hurried through the gates, you’re going to want to snap plenty of photos that encapsulate the spellbinding magic forever. But with so many amazing spots to take pictures and so many other park visitors, how can you make sure you find the best photo opportunities to remember your trip?

We spoke to several bloggers who are devoted Walt Disney World fans to find out their hints and tips for scoping out the best photo opportunities during your visit.

Who doesn’t want a picture in front of Cinderella Castle? Michelle from Disney Tips & Trip Reports told us why this location is a must for any visitor and how to avoid the crowds and create that perfect family photo.

“My favourite location for taking photos is Cinderella Castle - it's an obvious one, but the castle is so beautiful that I can't help but take photos of it. I remember the feeling I had when I saw it for the first time in real life, and it took my breath away. Walt Disney World was a dream holiday for me and when I finally got to go with my husband and son, it was everything I thought it would be and more!”

“As the focal point of Magic Kingdom it is always busy, so if you want a crowdless picture, you have to have an early breakfast reservation so that you can get into the park before all the other guests descend. We did this once and it was picture perfect!

For a unique photo to cherish, Michelle suggests taking pictures of the castle from a different angle and at different times of the day. “There are so many different views of the castle - and it looks very different as the day goes on, as well as during different seasons of the year.

“Of course, take the standard photos with you and your family standing in front of it, but look for different angles, different vantage points, close-ups and more! It looks amazing surrounded by fireworks and during the Holiday season it is covered in ice-white twinkling lights. During Halloween, it changes into lots of colours, but my favourite is purple!”

Another tip for getting a picture of Cinderella Castle without all the crowds is to take a picture near the Baby Care Centre, says Have Baby Will Travel blogger Corrine. “We've found a great photo spot in the Magic Kingdom that provides a great view of Cinderella Castle without masses of crowds in the background, even if they happen to be there!

“It's just outside the Baby Care Centre and First Aid Station that's on the left-hand side towards the bridge to Frontierland. The gardens are fenced off, and if you lean against the fence you'll have a great family photo with the castle in the background. Another great thing about this photo spot is there are rarely any photobombers or having to wait for someone to pass by before taking the picture. We've taken a shot here every time we’ve visited.”

The Purple Wall

Sam Kwiatkowski from Coastal Curiosity also shared with us her favourite photo opportunities in Walt Disney World, the first being the purple wall just inside of Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland.

“One of my favourite Instagram photo spots in Walt Disney World is the purple wall just inside of Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland! It's the perfect simple, but fun backdrop to showcase your Minnie Mouse ears and Disney outfit.

“If you post a photo of you with the Purple Wall make sure that you hashtag #thepurplewall and tag @purplewallphotos. Yes - the wall is so cool that it has its own Instagram!”

Mickey Mouse Helium Balloons

Sam also gave us another great photo opportunity, Mickey Mouse’s Helium Balloons.

“This isn't exactly a location, but more of a photo opportunity! I love taking photos with the iconic Mickey Mouse helium balloons. When I think of Walt Disney World, these balloons pop into my head second only to Cinderella Castle.

“They make such a fun accessory for your photos. If you play your cards right, the attendant might let you hold part of the strings so it looks like it’s just you holding them!”

The Tree of Life

If you’re looking for a slightly different photo opportunity in Walt Disney World, Her Campus recommends getting a photo in front of the Tree Of Life.

“The Tree of Life is located at the centre of Animal Kingdom and it is the perfect place for an outdoorsy photo shoot. This gigantic tree is engraved with different animal carvings and at night it is home to a projection show.”

Tangled Lanterns

If you love Tangled, a picture with the Tangled Lanterns is an absolute must says Her Campus.

“The Tangled Lights are a great photo op, but you have to be lucky enough to catch it. The lanterns come on at night at Magic Kingdom park near the Tangled restrooms. The trick to this is that there is no set time to when the lanterns light up, so you have to keep checking back to see if you see the photo location set up.

“This photo is definitely worth the wait, and it will make you feel like you are watching the lanterns with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.”

Mickey Mouse Treats

Living By Disney blogger Serena says one of the best shots has got to be taking a picture of a Mickey-shaped treat.

“We all know that everything tastes better when it’s Mickey shaped. There are so many yummy treats to try at Disney World, but the most Instagram-able has to be Mickey shaped. Try the confectionery at the Magic Kingdom on Main Street for the most seasonal choices.”
